Broadcast weather app
For ERR, Estonia’s national public broadcaster, we built a touch-first weather application for live prime-time use on Aktuaalne Kaamera — the country’s evening news. The architecture split cleanly in two: a broadcast view (index.html) and a touch control dashboard (admin.html).
Zero margin for failure
Hundreds of custom APNG weather-symbol loops rendered fluidly with minimal CPU overhead, and presenters could tap live-editable regional maps to update temperatures on air. Designed as a lightweight, locally-running web app with no heavy database dependencies, it removed the primary risk vectors of broadcast software.
In live television there is zero margin for technical failure — and ERR’s own staff could extend the snippet libraries and update city parameters without external maintenance.
